The tests are used to determine hormone levels in women during their reproductive years (around 20-40), when they are feeling well, and in perimenopause or menopause, when hormone levels start to drop significantly.
For young women, an initial assessment of hormone levels provides an insight into their individual hormone balance, which will be used in the future to assess their hormonal changes or to decide on hormone therapy during menopause.
Older perimenopausal and menopausal women often experience a variety of physical and emotional changes such as hot flashes, mood swings and other symptoms that are associated with fluctuating hormone levels. The results of the tests can help you and your doctor make decisions when your mood and hormones start to change.
The tests are discussed with your GP during a free consultation, who will draw up a recommended plan for further tests if necessary.
